It has been a while since we received an update on the highly anticipated Diablo II: Resurrected Patch 2.4. Teased as early as December of last year, patch 2.4 is going to be the first-ever time that the beloved ARPG will be getting new content in 11 years. The last game balance update was version 1.13c.
So players have definitely been waiting with bated breath. Blizzard announced in an official Forum Post that Diablo II: Resurrected will be receiving its Patch 2.4 on April 14. The first-ever Ladder season will start a full two weeks later on April 28. The team also detailed the challenges that they faced when laying down the groundwork for this monumental update.
So What’s In Diablo II: Resurrected’s Patch 2.4?
We did an extensive list of changes for the upcoming Patch 2.4 back in January, but let’s check out a few of our favourites again!
Amazon Changes

Diablo 2 Amazon Class
The mighty Amazon is getting changes to all three of her skill trees, Javelin and Spear, Passive and Magic Skills and Bow and Crossbow Skills. The focus though is on Melee skill synergies Power Strike, Charged Strike, Lightning Strike and Impale.
Assassin Changes
Since the Assassin’s Shadow Disciplines are already in a good spot, they will be primarily getting updates to their Martial Arts and Trap skills. The former will be getting an overhaul to the combo system, as finishing skills now consume 1 combo point instead of all available. Dragon Talon, Dragon Claw, Dragon Tail and Dragon Flight will also always hit whenever the Assassin has a Combo Point available.

Diablo 2 Assassin Class
Blade Sentinel, Blade Fury and Blade Shield are receiving buffs to make dedicated builds around these skills. Fire Blast, Wake of Fire and Wake of Inferno are also being made more effective in higher difficulties where enemies tend to have one or more resistances.
Barbarian Changes

Diablo 2 Barbarian Class
Throwing and Leaping Barbarians should now be a thing in the upcoming Diablo II: Resurrected 2.4 Patch. Throwing Mastery under Combat Masteries will now allow projectiles to pierce. Combat Masteries such as Leap and Leap Attack will feel better to use as the animation speeds are being increased.
Druid Changes
The almighty Druid is getting some improvements to all three of his skill trees, Elemental Skills, Shape-Shifting and Summoning.

Diablo 2 Druid Class
One of the focuses will be on Fire Skills, Firestorm, Molten Boulder, Fissure, Volcano and Armageddon getting buffed. Both of his transformations, Werewolf and Werebear are getting attack speed modifications. Lastly, Spirit Oak Sage, Heart of the Wolverine and Spirit of Barbs will all get physical damage resistance to ensure they live longer on harder difficulties.
Necromancer Changes

Diablo 2 Necromancer Class
The Necromancer is in a pretty good place balance-wise so the biggest focus will be on his Summoning Skill, Skeletal Mage. The elemental damage this summon deals is being increased, as well as its health.
Paladin Changes

Diablo 2 Paladin Class
The hardy Paladin will have updates to his various Offensive Auras. Holy Fire, Holy Freeze, Holy Shock and Sanctuary now deal damage based on distance from the caster. The closer the foe, the more damage they take. Thorns are also going to deal more damage, and be more consistent.
Sorceress Changes

Diablo 2 Sorceress Class
Our favourite Sorceress will get balancing to all three of her skill trees – Cold, Lightning and Fire. However, the biggest changes are to Frozen Armor, Shiver Armor and Chilling Armor now lasting longer and being more effective. Fire Skills such as Fire Bolt and Fire Ball will get some synergy values adjusted as well.
New Runewords

All 7 Classes in Diablo 2 Ressurected
We discussed a few of the new Runewords in our previous post! Check out the new Mist which combines ‘Cham + Shael + Gul + Thul + Ith’ to create a Runeword for bows and crossbows. We also have Unbending Will that makes use of the Fal + IoIth + Eld + El + Hel runes. This Runeword is for Sword type weapons and will be ideal for Act V Barbarian Mercenaries as it allows the user to automatically cast Taunt.
Mercenary Changes
Lastly, we have updates to our mercenaries so that usage is more diverse than having the Act II Nightmare mercenary for 99% of players.
Ranked Ladder Details

Diablo 2 Ladder
The Ladder system will be split up into four different modes in Diablo II: Resurrected. These will be:
- Standard Ladder: Softcore Ladder comprised of Acts 1 to 4
- Hardcore Ladder: Hardcore Ladder Ladder is comprised of Acts 1 to 4
- Standard Expansion Ladder: Softcore Ladder comprised of Acts 1 to 5
- Hardcore Expansion Ladder: Hardcore Ladder is comprised of Acts 1 to 5
The new Runewords will appear in the ladder, as it has been with all previous Ladder Seasons for the original Diablo II.
